Scars.

Have you ever considered the beauty of a scar?

A memory or a lesson from the past
It started out with so much pain
Hurt, anger, regret, fear
Over time it began to heal

Then.  Another memory, another hurt.
The skin is ripped open again, revealing the same wound
Some wounds last a day, some a week
Others last so long you’re afraid it won’t leave

But one day you look down
You gasp in surprise
It’s no longer a wound
Somewhere along the way it became a scar
It no longer hurts, it no longer bleeds

It’s a memory, it’s a lesson
Forever marked to remind you of where you’ve been
How far you’ve come
Have you ever considered the beauty of a scar?

this post goes out to anyone and everyone who has dealt with self injury or struggled with scars.

do not hate your scars, they have made you who you are.
